Need a college guy's point of view?

so i'm a 20 year old girl and i'm completely infatuated with this one guy...normally i'd get my flirt on but the problem is that his roommate (a.k.a. best friend) is in love/obsessed with me. neither of them has any idea about how much i like/want this guy--at least i think they don't. anyway, every time we're around each other it's sooo awkward in a way that's hard to explain because i can't come up with any logical reason why we would be awkward around each other. in the past he and i have had problems getting along for he seemed to think i was purposely tooling his friend around (rest ured, that wasn't the case) and it took him some time to warm up to me as a person and yet...sometimes i catch his eye--or he catches mine...i don't know--and i don't know what to do so i just look somewhere else and pretend it didn't happen. so, guys, putting yourself in that guy's position, can you gimme any insight on what might be going on?
