I have seen a bright yellow bird with a melodious voice in my garden. Could it be an escaped canary?

This Bird does not feature on any websites or in any of my bird books. It is the size of a finch, is bright Yellow with an Orangey head. It has a beautiful melodious voice. I have several photos if uploadable?
